2. With the engine running at idle, check the fluid level in the reservoir. Add fluid if necessary.
- Working fluid - ATF DEXRON(R) II or III
K3 series motors
EJ series engines
Note:
- On a warm engine and when the power steering fluid is warm, the level should be between the marks "MAX" And "MIN" range "NOT" on the tank.
- On a cold engine and with a cold power steering fluid, the level should be between the marks "MAX" And "MIN" range "COLD" on the tank.
3. Start the engine and set the idle speed.
4. Turn the steering wheel several times from lock to lock to increase the temperature of the working fluid to 80°C.
5. Check for foaming or emulsification of the liquid.
Note: Fluid foaming or emulsification indicates either air in the system or a low fluid level.
6. Check fluid level rise.
A) Measure the fluid level with the engine running.
b) Stop the engine, wait a few minutes and check the fluid level.
- The maximum increase in the level of the working fluid is 5 mm
If the increase in fluid level is more than 5 mm, bleed the system.
7. Check fluid level.
