Pic. 1.41. The values of the permitted gross vehicle weight and the maximum permissible load on the rear axle
The towing capacity of the vehicle is determined for driving at sea level. If you are towing a trailer (trailer) in mountainous areas, it should be borne in mind that the engine power, therefore, the vehicle's towing capacity will decrease.
Attention! The sum of the curb weight of the car, the weight of the driver, passengers, luggage, towing equipment and the load on the towing device must not exceed the permitted gross weight of the car by more than 100 kg. Exceeding this value is dangerous. The permitted weight of the vehicle is indicated on the manufacturer's plate (pic. 1.41).
Attention! The load on the rear axle must not exceed the maximum allowable load by more than 15%. Exceeding this value is dangerous. The permitted weight of the vehicle is indicated on the manufacturer's plate (see fig. 1.41).
Attention! If you exceed the permitted gross vehicle weight or the permitted rear axle load, do not exceed 100 km/h or the speed limit permitted by local regulations when towing (whichever of these values is less).
Attention! Toyota recommends installing only genuine towing brackets and a towbar.
Pic. 1.42. Drawbar installation dimensions
The dimensions for installing the towing brackets and the towing hitch are shown in fig. 1.42, and their values are given in table. 1.1.
