1. It is recommended to disassemble the engine on a special stand.
2. If there is no stand, then fix the engine on a flat area.
3. If a rebuilt engine is purchased, then all attachments must be removed, and subsequently installed in exactly the same order as with an independent overhaul. These units include:
- generator and brackets;
- details of the toxicity reduction system;
- ignition distributor, spark plugs and high-voltage wires;
- hoses and thermostat;
- coolant pump;
- carburetor or parts of the fuel injection system;
- suction and exhaust manifolds;
- oil filter;
- engine suspension parts;
- flywheel/torque converter drive plate;
- back plate.
Attention! Before removing attachments, tag gaskets, seals and other parts to facilitate assembly.
4. If an incomplete cylinder block is installed (those. cylinder block with installed crank mechanism and piston group), you must also remove the cylinder head, oil pan and oil pump.
5. If it is planned to carry out a major overhaul with complete disassembly, then the engine must be completely disassembled in the following order:
- cylinder head cover;
- suction and exhaust manifolds;
- rocker arms and rods;
- camshafts (1FZ-FE engine);
- cylinder head;
- pushers (2F and 3F-E engines);
- oil pan;
- oil pump;
- connecting rod and piston group;
- crankshaft with main bearings.
