2. Locate the oil pressure sensor on the cylinder block (pic. 2.2).
Pic. 2.2a. On models with four-cylinder engines, the oil pressure sensor is located at the left end of the cylinder head
Pic. 2.2.6. On V6 models, the oil pressure sensor is located on the front of the engine, above the crankshaft position sensor
3. Unscrew and remove the oil pressure gauge, and then screw in the oil test gauge hose (pic 2.3). Install an adapter if necessary. Wrap the threads of the adapter or fitting at the end of the gauge hose with Teflon tape or apply a suitable sealant to the threads.
Pic. 2.3. Oil pressure can be checked using a pressure gauge installed in place of the oil pressure sensor
4. Connect an accurate tachometer to the engine according to the instrument manufacturer's instructions.
5. Check the oil pressure with the engine running (at normal operating temperature) at the prescribed engine speed and compare the result with the values given in Specifications at the beginning of this chapter. If the reading is very low, the bearings and/or oil pump may be worn.
