Checking and adjusting the height of the clutch pedal
Roll up the mat to expose a sheet of soundproofing bituminous mastic on the floor under the clutch pedal.
Check clutch pedal height.
The height of the clutch pedal from a sheet of soundproofing bituminous mastic on the floor:
- models with 1CD-FTV engine - 151.0–161.0 mm;
- models with 1ZZ-FE / 3ZZ-FE engine - 138.0–148.0 mm.

Adjust clutch pedal height (pic. 3.7).
Loosen the lock nut and turn the lock bolt to adjust the height of the clutch pedal.
Tighten locknut.
Tightening torque: 25 Nm.
Checking the free play of the clutch pedal of the free play of the pusher
Check the free play of the clutch pedal and clutch master cylinder pusher.

Press the clutch pedal until you feel resistance (pic. 3.8).
Clutch pedal free travel 5.0–15.0 mm.
Lightly depress the pedal until there is a slight increase in resistance.
Free travel of the pusher of the clutch pedal, measured along the site: 1.0–5.0 mm.
Check the free play of the clutch pedal and clutch master cylinder pusher.
Remove the #1 leg airbag assembly.
Loosen the locknut and turn the pusher to adjust the free play of the clutch pedal and pusher.
Tighten locknut.
Tightening torque: 12 Nm.
After adjusting the free play of the clutch pedal and pusher, check the pedal height.
Install the #1 leg airbag assembly.

Raise the lever (drive) parking brake and place chocks under the wheels.
Start the engine and let it idle.
Without depressing the clutch pedal, slowly engage reverse gear.

Slowly depress the clutch pedal and measure its travel from the moment the noise of the gears stops (clutch release position) to the extreme point of the working stroke (pic. 3.9).
Nominal Clutch Pedal Travel: 25mm or more (from the extreme point of the stroke to the clutch disengagement position).
If the measured stroke does not match the nominal stroke, perform the operations listed below.
- Check clutch pedal height.
- Check the free play of the clutch pedal and the free play of the pusher.
- Remove air from the system.
- Check clutch basket and driven disc assembly.
