Note. Turn off all electrical equipment and the air conditioning system.
Note. Check the idle speed with the cooling fan off.
Note. Place the shift lever in neutral while checking the idle speed.
Test with diagnostic tool II
Warm up and turn off the engine.

Connect the Handheld Diagnostic Tool II to the DLC3 connector (pic. 2.112).
Turn the ignition ON (START).
Select instrument mode: Powertrain/ Engine and ECT/ Data List/ Engine SPD.
Note. If you need help selecting a Data List, please refer to the Handheld Diagnostic Tool II manual.
Check idle speed.
Idle speed: 600–700 min–1.
Turn off the ignition (OFF).
Disconnect the Handheld Diagnostic Tool II from the DLC3 Diagnostic Connector.
Test without diagnostic tool

Connect SST 09843-18040 to terminal 9 (TAC) connector DLC3, then connect the tachometer (pic. 2.114).
Note. Check the terminal numbers carefully before connecting. Shorting other terminals may damage the motor.
Turn the ignition ON (START).
Check the engine idle speed.
Idle speed: 600–700 min–1.
Turn off the ignition (OFF).
Disconnect the tachometer.
Disconnect SST from terminal 9 (TAC).
