Replacing the radiator assembly (1ZZ-FE / 3ZZ-FE)

Disconnect the negative terminal from the battery terminal.

Remove the #1 engine bottom guard.

Remove the top radiator shroud.

Drain the coolant.

Disconnect the radiator inlet hose.

Disconnect the radiator outlet hose.

Removing the Upper Radiator Bracket

Disconnect the horn connector and remove the hood latch cable clamp (pic. 2.414).



Remove 3 bolts, then remove the hood latch (pic. 2.415).




Remove 7 bolts and remove the upper radiator bracket (pic. 2.416).

Removing the radiator assembly

Disconnect the fan connector.



Disconnect the 2 clamps of the main wiring harness of the engine compartment (pic. 2.417).



Remove the 2 bolts, then remove the relay box No. 2 of the engine compartment (pic. 2.418).

Remove the radiator with fan shroud assembly from the vehicle.

Remove the lower radiator bracket.

Removing the fan shroud

To remove the fan shroud from the heatsink, squeeze and push on each of the upper shroud retainers (pic. 2.419).

Installing the Fan Shroud

Align the 2 grooves of the fan shroud with the 2 lugs on the bottom of the heatsink and insert the lugs into the grooves (pic. 2.420).

Attach the fan shroud to the heatsink with the 2 top fasteners. so that the latches are securely attached, press until they click.

Install the radiator bottom bracket.

Installing the Radiator Assembly

Install the radiator with fan shroud assembly to the vehicle.

Install the relay box No. 2 of the engine compartment and secure with 2 bolts.

Tightening torque: 5.3 Nm.

Install the 2 clamps of the main engine room wiring harness.

Connect the fan connector.

Installing the Radiator Top Bracket

Install the upper radiator bracket and secure with 7 bolts.

Tightening torque: 9.8 Nm for bolt A.

Connect the hood latch cable to the hood latch.

Install the hood latch with 3 bolts.

Tightening torque: 8.0 Nm.

Install the hood latch cable clamp.

Connect the horn connector.

Note. Install other components in the reverse order of removal.
