Troubleshooting with a volt/ohmmeter
Attention:
- - Troubleshooting procedures have been developed for each system and are described in this manual. These procedures may change slightly from time to time. However, the methods given in this manual are practically sufficient for troubleshooting.
- - Before starting troubleshooting, it is recommended to check the fuses, fuse links and the condition of the connections.
- - Troubleshooting procedures are based on the assumption that the fault is either an open circuit or a short circuit outside the ECU, or a short circuit in the control unit itself.
- - If an engine malfunction appears at the required operating voltage at the terminals of the electronic control unit, then the control unit is faulty and must be replaced.
Electronic Fuel Injection Control System Test Procedure
Attention:
- - Perform all voltage measurements with the connectors connected.
- - The battery voltage must be at least 11 V with the ignition on. Using a voltmeter with a large self-resistance (not less than 10 kOhm/V), measure the voltage at each output of the electronic control unit.
- When measuring resistance: Do not touch the terminals of the electronic control unit and perform all measurements with the diagnostic connector of the electronic control unit disconnected.
- - Insert the ohmmeter probes into the connector from the wiring harness side.
