Check up thermal backlashes in the valves specified in drawing 2.224.
Using a feeler gauge, measure the clearance between the cam and the valve lifter. Write down the results. These will be used later when determining the thickness of the shim.
Thermal clearance in valves (on a cold engine):
- inlet - 0.15–0.25 mm;
- graduation - 0.25–0.35 mm.

Rotate the crankshaft 240° (2/3 turn) also check up a thermal backlash in the valves specified in drawing 2.225.
