Pic. 2.118. Measurement of connecting rod and main journals
With a micrometer, measure the diameter of each connecting rod and main journal in two mutually perpendicular planes, as shown in Figure 2.118.
- The diameter of the main neck is 54.988–55.000 mm.
- The diameter of the crankpin is 47.990–48.000 mm.
If the diameters are outside the specified limits, check the clearances. Replace crankshaft if necessary. Check the connecting rod and main journals for taper and ovality.
The maximum taper and ovality is 0.003 mm.
