DIS system applied (Direct ignition system, see fig. 2.203). DIS improves ignition timing accuracy, reduces high voltage losses, and improves overall ignition system reliability by eliminating a distributor. DIS in this engine is an independent ignition system that has a single ignition coil (with igniter) for each cylinder. Iridium coated spark plugs are used.
Coil and spark plugs
DIS has 4 ignition coils, one for each cylinder. The spark plug caps that make contact with the spark plugs are integrated with the ignition coils. In addition, igniters are used to simplify the system. Making the center electrode out of iridium gives the same performance as a platinum spark plug, but longer life.
