Pic. 7.47. Measuring the resistance between collector lamellas
Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the collector lamellae. The resistance should tend to 0, i.e. circuit must be closed (pic. 7.47).
If the resistance between any lamellas tends to infinity, i.e. circuit is open, replace the armature.

Check if the armature winding is shorted to «mass». Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the commutator blades and the armature core (pic. 7.48).
If the resistance tends to 0, i.e. the circuit is closed, replace the armature.
