Removing
1. Release the pressure in the fuel system.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Remove the battery and battery bracket.
4. Remove the engine hood.
5. Remove the air filter.
6. Raise and secure the vehicle. Drain coolant and engine oil. Remove drive belts.
7. Mark both ends and disconnect the vacuum, coolant and exhaust hoses. Disconnect wires and fuel pipes. Use electrical tape to mark the wires.
8. Remove the expansion tank of the cooling system and the windshield washer reservoir.
9. Remove the radiator fans, fan shroud, and radiator.
10. Disconnect heater hoses.
11. Disconnect the fuel pipes connecting the engine to the body.
12. Disconnect the throttle cable, transmission throttle cable, and speedometer sensor cable from the engine.
13. Disconnect the engine harness holders.
14. Remove the power steering pump mounting bolts. If possible, move the pump to the side without disconnecting the hoses from it. Remove the pump if necessary.
15. Remove the air conditioner compressor and move it to the side. Do not disconnect hoses from the compressor.
16. Disconnect the exhaust pipe (s) from the collector (ov).
17. In four-cylinder engines, remove the oil filter, disconnect the hoses from the oil cooler and remove the oil cooler (arrow).
18. Attach the chain to the hooks designed to lift the engine and connect the chain to the hoist.
19. Remove the drive axle (A) from the passenger seat, unscrew the through bolt of the engine mount (IN) and remove the engine rear bracket (WITH).
20. Remove the bolt securing the front engine mount to the body (A), if you are removing the engine together with the gearbox, remove the engine damper (IN).
21. On automatic transmission models, remove the torque converter dust shield, remove the torque converter clamps, and lightly press the torque converter into the transmission housing.
22. If you remove only the engine, unscrew the bolts and disconnect the gearbox.
23. Check that nothing interferes with the removal of the engine.
24. Install a jack under the gearbox. Remove the bolts from the engine mounts.
25. Raise the engine slowly on the hoist (the figure shows a 4-cylinder engine with a gearbox).
26. Lower the engine onto a specially equipped stand or workshop floor.
Installation
1. On manual transmission engines, inspect the clutch elements and lubricate the thrust bearing.
2. On automatic transmission engines, inspect the gasket and bushing of the torque converter and lubricate the front of the converter.
3. Install the engine in the reverse order of removal.
