Choice of refrigerant type

Using the wrong coolants can damage the engine cooling system. The coolant must be of the ethylene glycol type to adequately protect the aluminum components from corrosion. Use coolant "Toyota Long Life Coolant" or equivalent.

This type of coolant will also prevent corrosion. Other additional inhibitors or additives are not required and are not recommended. Read the information on the coolant container about freezing prevention. Follow the manufacturer's directions for mixing with pure water (preferably demineralized or distilled).

It is recommended to use a 50% anti-freeze solution in Toyota vehicles down to approximately -35°C. When the weather is extremely cold, a 60% solution is recommended to provide protection down to approximately -50°C. Do not use more than 70% dilution for best coolant performance.
