Incorrect tire pressure can shorten tire life and make your vehicle less safe to drive.
Low tire pressure leads to excessive wear, poor handling, reduced fuel economy, and the possibility of bursting from overheating tires. Also, low pressure can cause poor tire bead sealing. If the pressure is excessively low, there is a possibility of wheel damage and/or tire separation.
High tire pressure results in a rough ride, handling problems, excessive wear in the center of the tire tread from potholes in the road.
If the tire requires frequent inflation, have it checked by your Toyota dealer.
Tire Pressure Check Instructions
The pressure should only be checked with cold tires.
If the vehicle has been stopped for at least 3 hours and has not been driven more than 1.5 km after that, an accurate cold tire pressure can be obtained.
Always use a tire pressure gauge.
The appearance of a tire can be deceiving. In addition, tire pressure, even if only slightly weaker, can impair handling and ride.
Do not deflate or reduce tire pressure after driving.
It is normal for a tire to increase pressure after riding.
Be sure to install tire inflation caps.
Without inflatable valve caps, dirt or moisture can enter the valve stem and cause air leakage. If caps are lost, new caps should be installed as soon as possible.
