Knock sensor (only with V6 engines)

The knock sensor detects knock in the engine cylinders and sends a control signal to the ECM, which reduces the ignition timing by an amount that excludes knocking in the engine cylinders.


1. The knock sensors are located under the intake manifold. To access the knock sensors, the air intake plenum and intake manifold must be removed.

2. Using an ohmmeter, check that there is no contact between the knock sensor contacts and the engine.
