Examination
Checking the vacuum in the vacuum hoses of the throttle body of a four-cylinder engine
Checking the vacuum in the vacuum hoses of the six-cylinder throttle body
1. Check that the accelerator cable moves smoothly and without binding.
2. Start the engine, disconnect the vacuum hoses one by one from the throttle body and, using your finger, determine the presence of vacuum in the hoses (see fig. Check of vacuum in vacuum hoses of the case of a throttle of the four-cylinder engine and fig. Checking the vacuum in the vacuum hoses of the six-cylinder throttle body).
Replacement
Throttle Body Parts
1 - additional air hose; 2 - coolant supply hose; 3 - throttle cable; 4 - accelerator cable; 5 - EVAP hose; 6 - EGR temperature sensor; 7 - vacuum hose; 8 - gasket; 9 - EVAP hose; 10 - throttle body; 11 - connector throttle position sensor; 12 - EGR temperature sensor bracket; 13 - EGR temperature sensor connector; 14 - IAC valve connector; 15 - air intake hose; 16 - coolant supply hose
1. Remove the ground wire from the battery.
Attention! If your radio has an anti-theft code, check that you have the pairing codes before disconnecting the battery.
Attention! On models since 1993, the airbag system is disabled if the battery is disconnected for an extended period. If the airbag warning light comes on and stays on after reconnecting the battery, take it to a specialist workshop to restore the system to normal.
2. Drain the coolant from the radiator.
3. Loosen the clamps and remove the air intake hose. Disconnect the accelerator cable from the throttle control lever and the accelerator cable sheath from the throttle body.
4. Label and disconnect the vacuum and coolant hoses from the throttle body.
5. Disconnect the electrical connector from the throttle position sensor.
6. Unscrew 4 bolts of fastening of the case of a throttle.
7. Remove throttle body with gasket from intake manifold (see fig. Throttle Body Parts).
8. Using a soft brush, clean the throttle body, then blow out all passages with compressed air.
9. The throttle body is installed in the reverse order of removal.
