Removing the oil cooler
1. Drain the coolant.
2. Remove the dipstick.
3. (3S-FE, 4S-FE) Remove the exhaust manifold bracket by removing the bolt and nut.
4. Remove the oil filter.
5. Remove the oil cooler.
A) Disconnect the two bypass hoses from the oil cooler.
b) (3S-FE, 4S-FE) Remove check valve and washer.
V) Loosen the nut and remove the oil cooler.
G) Remove the O-ring and gasket from the oil cooler.
Checking the oil cooler
1. (3S-FE, 4S-FE) Check check valve. Press the check valve with a wooden rod and check it for buckling. If it is crumpled, replace the valve.
2. Check oil cooler for damage or blockage. If necessary, replace the oil cooler.
Oil cooler installation
1. Install the oil cooler.
A) Clean the contact surfaces of the oil cooler and cylinder block.
b) Install a new O-ring and gasket to the oil cooler.
V) Temporarily tighten the oil cooler nut.
G) (3S-FE. 4S-FE) Apply engine oil to the threads and under the check valve head.
d) (3S-FE, 4S-FE) Install the washer and tighten the check valve
Tightening torque - 78 Nm
e) Tighten the nut.
Torque:
- 3S-FE, 4S-FE - 8 Nm
- ZS-T - 59 Nm
and) Connect the two coolant bypass hoses to the oil cooler.
2. Install the oil filter, (see changing the oil filter in the section "General Inspection and Adjustment Procedures")
3. (3S-FE, 4S-FE) Install the exhaust manifold bracket and tighten the bolt and nut.
Tightening torque - 42 Nm
4. Fill in coolant.
5. Start the engine and check for leaks.
6. Check engine oil level.
